Meet Our Host - VICTOR FUSCO
On the air continuously since March of 1999, Labor-Lines was Long Island's first labor oriented radio show.

Our host is Vic Fusco, an attorney for more than 30 years.

Each week Mr. Fusco speaks with labor leaders, rank and file working people, civic and community activists, journalists and writers, professors, attorneys, administrative agency personnel and public officials on a wide variety of issues of relevance to working men and women, the workplace and the community.

About the Program
Host Vic Fusco at the Controls
Labor-Lines

Airs on WGBB-AM 1240 Freeport, NY. WGBB, founded in 1924, was Long Island's very first commercial radio station. The station airs a community oriented format with a wide variety of music and talk programming in English and other languages for a multi-cultural approach to broadcasting.

The program airs over WGBB Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM and again on Saturday evenings at 6:30 PM.It is simulcast on the internet at www.am1240wgbb.com.

WWRL 1600 AM is New York City's Progressive Talk Station.

The NYC edition of Labor Lines airs every Wednesday at 11:30 AM over 25,000 watts heard all over the NYC Metropolitan area , as well as on www.WWRL1600.com and joins an all-star lineup with such well known broadcasters as Ed Schultz, Randi Rhoads, and Tom Hartman and  New York City Union leaders like Greg Floyd (IBT 237) Norman Seabrook (COBA) and Lillian Roberts (DC-37) to name a few.

WJVC 96.1 FM, Long Island's new (and only) home for country music, came on the air in January of 2011, after being taken over by JVC Broadcasting. The owners of JVC, John Caracciolo and Vic Canales, were not content to listen to the "conventional wisdom" that a country music station wouldn't work on Long Island. Bucking the competition, "My Country 96.1 set sail in January 2011 taking over a Moribund frequency that the prior owner had let stagnate by simply simulcasting a Nassau Country "sound-a-like" pop music station. Since the January format flip, the station's ratings have steadily increased, pushing well ahead of longer established stations in the market, proving the wisdom of the programming choice. Again, defying the conventional wisdom that "country music won't sell in this market," WJVC has had no shortage of advertisers and sponsors, thanks to an enthusiastic and energetic sales staff and the good will garnered over the years by its CEO who has been involved in many social, political, civic, and charitable endeavors.

JVC Broadcasting serves its market area well, with tailor made broadcast outlets to suit various constituencies. The company operates the immensely popular "La fiesta 98.5" a Spanish language station pitched to a young contemporary audience; WRCN a classic rock station with deep community roots; Party 105.3 which focuses on dance music and is the dominant dance music station in the market, and, of course, "My Country" 96.1 which filled an unmet demand for country music on Long Island. WJVC's ratings have steadily improved with each book. The station has already set up two major concerts: Freedom Fest (July 3) at the Bethpage Federal "Duck's" Stadium in Central Islip and the Vet's Rock Concert on September 18 at the Brookhaven Ampitheatre. It's sister stations have also set up a series of summer concerts, as well.

County music stations gain traction by becoming a close part of the communities they serve. The country audience is incredibly loyal. Not one to accept the conventional wisdom to "not break format", WJVC broke further ground by becoming the radio voice of the Long Island Ducks, to increase its involvement with the community in which it serves. What could be more "All-American" that country music and baseball?

WJVC further cemented its community ties by airing several issues oriented programs on the weekends, including a program about and for Veterans; a talk and investigative journalism show with LI Broadcast veteran John Gomez, and the recently added the long running Labor-Lines, a program about working men and women and the organizations that represent them with local attorney Victor Fusco.

With young energetic management, forward thinking programming, community involvement, professional marketing and a hands-on CEO, JVC Broadcasting is a company on the move.

Sara Jane Fusco, our Execurtive Producer, conceived of Labor-Lines in 1998, wanting to give a voice to the compelling story of the labor movement on Long Island. Co-incidentally, her husband Vic, had been appearing as a guest on a number of talk shows on local station WGBB AM 1240, as well as other local radio and cable TV programs. Sara presented the idea of Labor Lines to WGBB management and the show began airing in March of 1999. One of the first guests was then NY State AFL-CIO President Ed Cleary. For about four years the show also ran on Long Island's WLIE 540 AM until the station changed format. In 2010 the program was invited to be part of the "Working New York" lineup on Progressive Talker WWRL 1600 AM.

Sara has a well grounded media background. She has an MA in Communications from New York Institute of Technology. For a period of time she hosted and produced her own radio interview program on WGBB called WGBB tonight which aired on Monday evenings. She has served as a board member of the LI Press Club.

She serves as Director of Community Affairs for the Law Firm of Fusco Brandenstein & Rada, P.C. This position involves her with a number of civic, labor and charitable organizations such as: The Foundation for Sight and Sound; The AMT Children of Hope Foundation; The Lupus Alliance; Jobs with Justice; The March of Dimes Annual Salute to Labor; The Workers' Memorial Day Committee and many other organizations.
